Full russian calf, smooth back divided into five panels by pointille lines, morocco running title label to second panel, volume and volume title label to fourth, first with armorial gilt stamp (possibly that of the Fitzgeralds), third and fifth panel with volute corner pieces encompassing a cross, single fillet border to covers, gilt roll to edges and inner edges, all edges marbled, curl marbled endpapers. Rubbed to extremities, especially outer joints, corners worn, some scuffing to covers. Internally the frontispiece and additional engraved title to Frankenstein are browned, but the text is quite bright and clean. Previous owners armorial bookplate to front pastedown (Carton Library). Bound with the first part of Schiller's Ghost-Seer as usual. The frontispiece is by W. Chevalier after T. Holst. This is the second impression of the third edition, with the engraved title dated 1831, but the letterpress title dated 1832. Lyles B5a; Summers, page 330
