[9], x-xxvii, [2], 2-476pp, [2]. Full morocco by (for?) Hatchards with their pallet to front turn in, raised bands, spine in six panels, title lettered directly to second panel, author to third, both with leafy stem tools, remaining panels gilt with central rose head, from which emanate leafy stems with dots to corners. Covers with single fillet border and a single fillet inner frame with equidistant dots, single line to edges, inner edges gilt with four lines and leafy stem and dot corner pieces, t.e.g., with Edward Morris type marbled endpapers
Spine slightly faded, minor rubbing to extremities, small Japanese tissue paper repair to head of front joint, top corner of lower cover bumped with small splits. Internally there are a few small spots to margins, and one mark (crayon?) to top margin of E3v, but generally quite bright and clean
One of two hundred and fifty copies for England, (with another twenty-five for America), with proof illustrations by Hugh Thomson on China paper
A handsome copy of the most attractively printed edition of Pride and Prejudice, the large paper copy of the 'Peacock' edition
