Two volumes complete - Volume One - xi, [1], 320pp and Volume Two - vii, [1], 309pp, [1]. Later half calf and marbled paper over boards, semi-raised bands, spine in six panels, title label to second panel, volume label to third (matching to first volume, contrasting to second volume), remaining panels gilt with volute corner pieces and central fleuron, with two small roundels to left and right, t.e.g., marbled endpapers.
Spines faded, volume label to volume one slightly chipped, slightly rubbed to extremities. Internally an occasional hint of foxing, small closed tear to frontispiece, but generally fairly bright and clean. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedowns (Walter Flinn).
Extra-illustrated with four pasted in plates by Chas. Pears. Bound from the parts with stab holes visible, and an advert for the book, printed on blue paper like the covers of the parts, is bound in at the front.
