[8], 69pp, [1]. Original cloth, bevelled edges. Title to spine, upper cover with title to head, author and publisher to foot, between is an on laid colour illustration of Samuel Whiskers, decorative endpapers. A hint of foxing to top and fore-edges of text block, internally occasional very light foxing, mainly towards fore-edge margin, but generally bright and clean. Small booksellers label to foot of rear pastedown. Frontispiece and seventeen full page colour illustrations (as called for). Now housed in a velvet lined, drop back box, made by Temple Bookbinders, with title in gilt to spine and again to upper cover, with the illustration from the front book replicated on the front of the box, the box is very slightly rubbed to extremities.
