The Heart of the Antarctic - Being the Story of the British Antarctic Expedition 1907-1909
Two volumes complete - Volume One - [6], vii-xlviii, 371pp, [1] and Volume Two - [4], v-xv, [1], 418pp, [2]. Original cloth in DJ's, t.e.g. DJ's with several Japanese paper repairs to reverse and with some restoration visible to reverse, especially to spine ends and corners, with quite a large portion of the head of the spine and upper portion of lower panel of the DJ for volume one restored. Bindings lightly faded to spine ends and just running round to upper cover of volume two with some minor rubbing to extremities, some minor wear to vignette on upper covers, otherwise quite bright. Occasional very light foxing to margins and edges, previous owners name to half titles, but generally quite bright and clean internally. Small closed paper flaw to fore edge margin of Q8 in volume one. With the errata slip, silk bookmarks broken. Complete with two photogravure frontispieces, four double page photographic plates, two hundred and seventy-one single page photographic plates, twelve colour plates and four folding maps/panoramas (to rear pocket). Now housed in a cloth drop back box made by Temple Bookbinders. Spence 1097; Taurus 58 and Rosove 305.B1a, noting "Dust-wrappers very scarce"
