Full calf, eighteenth century with a later reback, spine in six panels, leather title label to second panel, remaining panels with central lozenge sgaped tool and leafy stem corner pieces, covers with single fillet border and central compass point device, single fillet to edges, with persille curled endpapers. Slightly rubbed to extremities, text lightly browned throughout, with ink annotations to margins in an old hand throughout, but largely unobtrusive. G2 and G5 and L2 and L5 are heavily browned; rust mark to C2 catching a couple of letters, but with no loss of sense; old repair to bottom margin of F4 not affecting image; small rust hole on S6 affecting one letter, but with no loss of sense; small burn hole to image on Bb5r and text to Bb5v catching a couple of letters with no loss of sense; light staining to text on Ii2 with small chip to head, not affecting text; small repaired hole to map of Shropshire with compass point replaced in pen; old paper repair to bottom margin of 4K6; ink stains to 5K and 5K2 affecting a few letters but with no loss of sense and repair to foot of 5S; four maps slightly shaved to margins, Ireland with a short repaired tear to centre. The sixth edition, the last in Latin and the first with maps. Additional engraved title with central map of Britain, fifty-five double page maps by Kip and Hole after John Norden and Christopher Saxton, two single page maps and eight engravings of coins.
